Conditionals

Here is the second conditional, as you will see the structure is very similar to the first.

IF + Subject + Past Simple/ Subject + would+ verb (present)

We use the second conditional to talk about situations that are not likely to happen or are unreal. Here you have an example:

If I won the lottery I would buy a house (but it´s not very likely that I win the lottery)

I wouldn´t do that if I were you (But I´m NOT you)

* Notice in this conditional we use WERE for I

Remember you have two blocks and you cannot mix them up.

Natural Science Proyect Unit 1 Pt.2

Hi again class 🌷

This is the second part of the Natural Science proyect (which is the best). I´m going to assign some easy experiments that you have to do at home with simple materials.

DO THEM BY USING THE SCIENTIFIC METHOD (fill out a paper for each experiment)

• Observation / Question
• Research
• Hypothesize
• Experiment
• Collect data
• Analysis
• Conclusion

EXPERIMENT 1: WILL IT RUST?

Materials: Six different metal objects (needle, staples, pins, coins... whatever is made of metal)

Place all objects in DIFFERENT plastic glasses and add some water. Hypothesize about which ones will rust sooner, which ones will rust later and which ones won´t rust.

Collect data in your scientific method template during a week (you can draw pictures and add text to it). Finaly review your hypothesis and check if you were right/wrong.

EXPERIMENT 2: WHICH SLICE?

Materials: An apple, a knife, six small glasses (plastic or glass), water, salt, sugar, honey, lemon, apple juice, coke (other type of soda if you don´t have coke).

Cut the apple in 8 different parts (similar size) place each slice into a glass and add the different liquids (Honey water/salt water/ sugar water/ plain water/ lemon water/soda/ apple juice).
Hypothesize about oxidation, will it get oxidate inside the liquids? will it get oxidate the same way?/ how do you think the features of each liquid will affect the apple? why?
Collect data in your scientific method template during 3 days and  review your hypothesis to check if you were right/wrong.

EXPERIMENT 3: CLEANING COINS

Materials: 5 cent coins (the dirtier the better), lemon, water, soy sauce, dish soap, vinegar, ketchup, coke, salt water, hot sauce, mustard and milk.

Put some of each substance in a bowl or cup enough to cover the coin, then allow it to sit for a time (45 minutes). Which substance do you think will clean the coins best? why?
Take out the products by using a napkin or some kitchen paper and see which coin is the cleanest.

Collect data in your scientific method template and  check your hypothesis to see if you were right/wrong.

Please, fill out one scientific method template for each experiment (LONG SENTENCES AND ELLABORATE WRITING PLEASE) and also take pictures of the procedures. During the week I´ll post some other experiments.

Conditionals (second worksheet modified and one more)

Hello class,

Today we will learn about the first conditional. Conditionals are used when we talk about a possible action and its consequences. We always use IF as a linker of the condition and the consequence.

Example:

I will pass the exam IF I study hard every day | She will go to University IF she studies hard.

If I study hard every day I will pass the exam | If she studies hard she will go to University.

The order of the sentences does not change the meaning but, as you see the sentence is made up by two sentences.

(Subject + will + verb in present) IF (Subject + Present Simple + other information)

Remember the -S in the present simple for he/he/it.

To make the negative we use WON´T

I won´t win the lottery If I don´t play it | He won´t win the lottery IF he doesn´t play it.

Buenos días clase 👶

Os escribo este post en Español para que nadie tenga dudas.
A partir de la semana que viene subiré tarea de inglés los lunes y los jueves (un día menos que antes), ya que algunos de vosotros me dijisteis que mandaba mucha tarea (que morro tenéis...😂😂😂). Pero me parece bien, ya entramos en junio y entiendo que estáis más cansados y la situación tampoco ayuda mucho.

¡¡¡¡¡¡¡LUNES Y JUEVES!!!!!

Las vídeo llamadas las seguimos manteniendo los jueves a la misma hora.

Por otro lado, os voy a hacer un examen global de inglés, me dijisteis ayer que no tuviera tiempo pero yo necesito saber que lo hacéis en un tiempo determinado, lo que estoy pensando es que os conectéis a jitsi y hagáis el examen con la cámara encendida. Cuando tenga algo decidido os voy diciendo.

Finalmente, a muchos os queda mucha tarea que mandarme, por lo que hoy no os voy a mandar nada pero, por favor aprovechad desde hoy hasta el lunes para mandarme TODO LO QUE TENGÁIS PENDIENTE. Ya sabéis que yo lo voy registrando todo y a muchos de vosotros os faltan varias tareas (sobre todo de inglés). Si bajáis hasta abajo del blog y le dais click a "older posts" os saldrán las entradas anteriores. Revisadlo y poneos al día.

Choose somebody in your family and interview him/her.

For that, these are the steps you have to follow:

• Choose the person you are going to interview (mum,dad, sister...)
• Make a brainstorm of interesting questions suitable to be asked for your interview.
• Divide those questions into: questions about the past, questions about the present, questions about the future. For doing this use the verbs chart so you use the right verbs and auxiliaries to make the questions (have, did, do, are...)
• Interview the person recording a video (set up a nice environment, decorate it...)

La tarea que os propongo es la siguiente:

¿Qué clase de valores (positivos y/o negativos) habéis visto en la sociedad durante la pandemia?

La verdad que molaría que lo reflexionarais bien e hicierais una buena reflexión. Podéis hablar de la gente, las autoridades, los sanitarios, vuestra propia familia e incluso vuestros valores propios.

La tarea es principalmente para la gente de valores, pero podéis hacerla todos los que queráis.

Science Project: Europe!!!

Here is the science project for these two weeks, the task you have to perform are the following ones:

• TASK 1: Have you ever heard about interrail? It´s a transportation pass that lets you travel all around Europe (take a look at the video). What you have to do is choosing 5 countries in Europe and designing an interrail travel for 15 days. Write a diary day by day describing your trip. You can talk about the monuments or museums you have visited, what you have eaten, the experiences of traveling by train, people you have known... You need to do a lot of research here and expand over the limits of your imagination.
  
• TASK 2: In this task you are going to be a tour guide. Choose 5 countries in Europe (DIFFERENT FROM THE ONES ON TASK 1) and make a tour around the most iconic cities explaining the main landmarks and places of interest. For this task you are gonna have to do a powerpoint with pictures and recording yourself (just audio) explaining the main monuments, history, mountains, rivers, food...
  
• TASK 3: Create two games, one for practicing the countries and capital cities and another one to practice the main rivers and mountain ranges in Europe. This game has to be different from the one you did last project.
  
• TASK 4: Choose 5 european painters and draw 5 pictures that resemble their work.
  
• TASK 5: Draw a political al physical map of Europe (notebook)
  
• TASK 6: Play the following games to review capitals, rivers and mountain ranges.

Proyect time!!!

Hi Class!

I know you haven´t heard from me during these days. It was holidays time so I wanted you to relax and to catch up with all the homework you had to do.

For the following TWO WEEKS we will be doing a proyect on Spanish Geography.

In order to do so you will have to do the following tasks:

• TASK 1: Create a Power Point of all the Autonomous Communities explaining the most relevant information (Main cities, rivers, mountains, climate, flags...).
• TASK 2: Design a game (digital or not) to practice the different Autonomous Communities. This game can be a puzzle, domino, memory game... Use your imagination!!!.
• TASK 3: Become the weather forecaster for a day! Draw or create a map of Spain and explain the weather for the day in all the country. Here you have an example https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iYeHeCJpV2g Record yourselves and send me a video!
• TASK 4: Create a relief map of Spain (Social Science Class book page 15)
• TASK 5: The mountain group SPORT 2000 from the UK wants to come to Spain to do a long trecking but they are not sure where to go. Create a leaflet in which you talk about the different options they have showing information about it (you may need the information on pages 10 and 12 Class Book but you´ll have to find some more info on the Internet).
• TASK 6: Get into this website and play the games on maps (rivers, mountains and capitals) until you have all of them right!!!
• TASK 7: Complete the activities on Unit 1 Social Science Activity Book (I´ll send you the corrections) and also the one on pages 16 and 17 Class Book.

I had gone to Albacete to take part in a tennis tournament. While I was getting on the train I heard a voice calling, It was my friend Marta from school. As soon as I got on the train I realized I had left my racket on a bench so I only had the tennis balls on my hands.

For today I´ve come up with an activity based on Autonomous Comunities. Here it is:

Create a PowerPoint/Genially/video presentation and talk about the Autonomous Comunities and cities you know
(If you don´t know many just choose cities you´d like to talk about)

Here is what you have to focus on:

- Say where it is and the fronteers (e.x: Huelva is in the South west of the Iberian Peninsula, is to the East of Portugal and it faces the Atlantic Ocean to the South.

- Talk about important places, monuments, climate.

- Events, festivities and flags.

- Other information you want to include like pictures, charts graphs...

PAST PERFECT TIME!!!

As I´m correcting your verbs exercises I think you´re more than ready to move on to the next tense that we kind of studied in class on the last days which is.... PAST PERFECT!!!

REMEMBER!!!

STRUCTURE:  HAD + 3RD COLUMN

KEY WORDS: As soon as, before, by the time, after, when.

USE: There are two events that happened in the past, we use past perfect to talk about the first event and past simple to talk about the other.

3. Finish all the activities on Topic 3 Natural Science Activity book. And I´ll send you the corrections by email so tell me on Monday whether you finished them.

1. I´ve just found out a photocopy with a lot of verb tenses (this ones are easier than the ones you´ve been doing lately)click here for the exercises. Do only exercises 1 and 4.

3. Read a book you have or from the websites I told you before.

I found some websites with free books and materials for you to read.

OXFORD OWL 

To me this is one of the best (YOU NEED TO CREATE AN ACCOUNT) but it´s totally safe. There you have graded readings for free. If you scroll down you´ll se the options. There´s also audio books.

OPEN LIBRARY

This one is also good but the books less quality, here you can find traditional stories such as Alice in Wonderland, Tom Sawyer... The good thing is that you DON´T NEED TO REGISTER to access books online, however there´s a limited amount of books.

CHILDREN´S LIBRARY

No need to register to enjoy a lot of different books (stories, comics...)

As for me, I´m trying to keep my head busy with work, I´m also playing the piano a lot and cooking lots of new recipes. Yesterday I cooked Lamb and cous cous :) It was absolutely delicious.
